Growing up in Alberta, Canada I was a child of the great outdoors. I spent my childhood climbing trees, camping, making mud pies, skating, tobogganing and everything in between. I can remember coming home from school, dropping my backpack at the door and going right back outside until sundown. Alberta is an amazing place to grow up.
As a child, I was never interested in being just one thing when I grew up. My future plans often bounced around. When I was in my teens, a mentor of mine mentioned that she saw me as an opal (the stone) - meaning I was very multifaceted. Good at many things, not brilliant at any one! This was a source of frustration as a young adult trying to find my way in the world. Little did I know at the time what an incredible asset that truly was!
After graduating high school and not having much direction (thanks to being a opal!), I set off to travel the world. Some of my favorite places include being a beach bum on Maui for a few months, discovering my ancestry while living in Scotland for 3 years, backpacking through Cambodia, Vietnam, Romania, Spain & Rwanda while doing humanitarian aide.
It was through my travel that I grew to deeply love our earth & gained an incredible respect for nature and all people and cultures. This love inspired me to earn a degree in Personal Fitness Training as a way to embody and teach a health mind, healthy body, health life - my way to give back and contribute.
Noticing a lack of natural health options in the fitness industry, I created The Balanced Life as a way to incorporate natural health practices and products in our every day lives. Being multifaceted has become invaluable in operating The Balanced Life!
I'm married, have 3 children & currently live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada but the ocean is always calling my name.
